Project Activity
BS-ERA.NET is structured in six work packages (WP).
The project starts with WP1 which aims the collection of information on the existing national and regional RTDI programmes. The major output of this work package is the preparation of a Synthesis report on the existing national and regional RTDI programmes and the current situation of programmes setting up procedures and best practice.
The aim of WP2 is to use the WP1s inputs in order to prepare the foundation of the future Black Sea Region RTDI Programme. The central task of WP2 is to Perform of a SWOT analysis on the practical and concrete networking activities.
WP3 Defining the BS Research Programme (BSRP) - aims to assure the premises for the future Joint Call and the release of the Black Sea Research Programme (BSRP).
Finally a pilot RTD Programme for Black Sea region will be established under WP4. A joint call for proposals will be launched in a specific - not yet defined - scientific and technological area. In the meanwhile established transnational evaluation system will be taking into consideration for this purpose. Also the commonly agreed rules and regulations will be applied. The selected projects will be funded under a yet to be defined financial regime and monitored. Lessons learnt will be comprehended and the ground for sustainable follow-up activities explored.
WP1-4 will be accompanied by WP5, which facilitates the internal and external communication and public relations.
The WP6 assists all work packages through a pro-active project management. All participating countries and organisations are involved in all work packages.

Main Milestones
Important milestones BS-ERA.NET wants to achieve are:
organizing of a major Information Exchange Conference in December 2009;
perform of a SWOT analysis on the identified RTD initiatives in December 2009;
approval and release of the Black Sea Research Programme (BSRP) in July 2010;
a first BS pilot joint call in February 2011.

Portfolio analysis of research initiatives targeting the Black Sea region (Month 8);
Report on the analysis of complementarities with similar RTDI Regional Initiatives within EU (Month 8);
Paper position (policy recommendations) on future RTDI co-operation in BS region (Month 12);
Report on SWOT analysis on the practical and effective networking activities and recommendations (Month 15);
Schemes for mutual opening of facilities Black Sea Research Programme (Month 19);
Launching and implementation of the first BS Joint Call (Month 27).
